PENNY PRILESZKY -
Penny’s work is a vibrant synthesis of colour, texture, and form, an immersive exploration of memory, connection, and meditative process.
Originally trained in Graphic Design and Illustration, she later deepened her artistic practice through a Fine Art Painting degree. After two decades of balancing teaching with her creative career, she now devotes herself fully to her studio practice.
Her work is characterised by richly layered hues, geometric abstraction, and a tactile fusion of mixed media and stitchwork. Penny describes her process as purposeful play; an intuitive dance between structure and spontaneity.
Translucent washes of colour merge with precise stitched patterns, creating a compelling tension between control and release, fluidity and form.
During lockdown, she became fascinated by the paradox of the ‘bubble’, a shape both fragile and protective, fleeting yet essential. This idea evolved into a contemplative approach to composition, where each mark and stitch alters, shields, and transforms the one before it.
The incorporation of Sashiko-inspired embroidery, traditionally used to reinforce and beautify worn fabric emerges as a metaphor for resilience and the quiet strength found in vulnerability.
Her current work expands on these themes, reflecting on the cyclical nature of personal history. A return to places, people, and moments once lost and now rediscovered. Each piece becomes an act of preservation, a way of holding memory through slow, intentional mark-making.
This collection invites stillness and reflection, a sanctuary of light, colour, and texture that offers quiet contemplation through both process and form.
